How to Crochet Corner to Corner Moss Stitch (C2C)

Corner to Corner Moss Stitch is a great twist on a classic. I’ve made a baby blanket but this pattern can be adapted to make projects in many different shapes and sizes. This stitch has definitely won the top spot in my favourite corner to corner project so far!

Materials Needed:

  • 3 balls of Papatya Batik in shade 554-40
  • 4.5mm Crochet Hook
  • Embroidery Scissors
  • Tapestry Needle

Stiches Used:

  • ch - Chain
  • sc - Double Crochet

Pattern

Increase Section:

  • Foundation Row: ch3, into 3rd ch from hook, work sc. TURN.
  • Row 1: ch3sc, ch1, sc all into ch3 gap from row below. TURN
  • Row 2: ch3, Sc into 1st ch1 space from row below, work sc, ch1, sc into ch3 gap from row below. TURN
  • Row 3: ch3, sc into 1st ch1 space from row below, *ch1, sc into next ch1 gap* repeat from *to* until you have worked into all ch1 spaces from previous row. Work sc ch1 sc into ch3 turn from row below.. TURN

Repeat Row 3 until your project is as wide as you want the short edge of your rectangle to be (measuring along side edges, not diagonal edges)

Middle Section

  • Row 4: ch3, *sc in next ch1 gap, ch1* repeat from *to* until final ch1 gap is filled, 2sc in ch3 from row below. TURN.
  • Row 5: ch3, *sc in next ch1 gap, ch1* repeat from *to* until 1 ch1 gap remains, sc in ch1 gap, sc in ch3 from row below (DO NOT CH BETWEEN LAST TWO SC). TURN.
  • Row 6: ch2, sc into 1st ch1 space from row below, *ch1, sc into next ch1 gap* repeat from *to* until you have worked into all ch1 spaces from previous row. Work sc ch1 sc into ch3 turn from row below.. TURN

Repeat Row 5 & 6 until your project is as long as you want the longer edge of your rectangle to be (measuring along side edge, not diagonal edge) Making sure to end after finishing a Row 5 repeat.

Decrease Section:

  • Row 7: ch2, *sc in next ch1 gap, ch1* repeat from *to* until final ch1 gap is filled, 2sc in ch3 from row below. TURN.
  • Row 8: ch2, *sc in next ch1 gap, ch1* repeat from *to* until 1 ch1 gap remains, sc in ch1 gap, sc in ch3 from row below (DO NOT CH BETWEEN LAST TWO SC). TURN.

Repeat Row 8 until you only have 2 sc in previous row.

  • Row 7: ch1, sc in ch2 of previous row. Break yarn and sew in ends.
