How to knit the "Harvey" Baby Blanket

***You can purchase an INEXPENSIVE AD-FREE PDF of this pattern on Ravelry HERE or Etsy HERE***

Harvey is a little more complicated than previous blanket patterns I've shared with you all, but I really really enjoyed knitting him, so I hope the fact he's a little more technically challenging won't put you off - I promise you that even though he's a 20 row repeat incorporating a stitch pattern that's a little more complex than my other blankets, he's still an enjoyable knit that can be tackled by anyone who can knit and purl confidently.

As usual, I've incorporated healthy amounts of garter stitch into this project, and I think when combined with the panels of Andalusian Stitch is super effective. Harvey has definitely been my favourite knit of the year so far!

A couple of things to note: Harvey is not reversible, he has a definite right and wrong side, but the rear of the blanket is neat and tidy, no messy ends or carried yarn, it just has no definite pattern like the front.

My instructions produce a Blanket approximately 60cm x 80cm, but for those of you wanting to adjust this size, it can easily be done using the pattern multiple of 2+1 for the middle textured panel, and an additional 18 stitches (9 for each side) for the garter stitch edging.

Materials Needed:

  • 4mm Circular Needs (to recreate this blanket 80cm is a perfect length)
  • 400g of DK Yarn - I used Stylecraft Bambino in Awesome Avocado
  • Scissors & Tapestry Needle for sewing in ends
  • 2 Stitch Markers

Written Pattern:

Stiches Used

  • k - knit
  • p - purl
  • sl1pwyf - slip one purlwise with yarn in front.
  • Pm - place marker
  • Sm - slip marker
