How to Knit the “Springtime Stroll” Shawl [Free Knitting Pattern & Video Tutorial]
***You can purchase an INEXPENSIVE AD-FREE PDF of this pattern HERE***
I don’t knit a lot of triangular shawls because I find the deepness of the most popular designs a little bit unwieldy to wear. Somehow the “triangleness” of them just swamps me and ends up feeling uncomfortable rather than cosy.

The Springtime Stroll Shawl uses double the amount of increases that other triagular shawls do, this means the width grows much quicker than the depth. The end result is a long shallow triangle that sits more comfortably around my neck, making it easier for me to wear it comfortably.

I chose to use one of my new favourite yarns for this shawl. The soft long colour changes of James C Brett Emotions DK do all the hard work for you and I haven’t knitted a project yet that hasn’t looked fabulous in it.

However, if variegated yarns aren’t your cup of tea then this pattern will still work equally well in a solid coloured yarn.

Sizing tips and tricks
This shawl can be knitted in any weight yarn you like, you will just end up with a thicker, or airier shawl depending on whether you choose a heavier or lighter yarn.

My sample shawl measures 150cm (59 inches) from tip to tip along its longest edge, and approximately 38cm (15 inches) deep (measured upwards from your cast-on tip to the long edge)

Ideally for an adult sized shawl you want to knit until the shawl measures 150cm (60 inches) along its longest edge (the one on your needles), but don’t let that stop you from knitting a bigger version if you really want to be snuggly when wearing it.

written pattern
Foundation Row: Cast on 3 stitches (I like to use the long tail method)
Setup row 1: k all stitches
Setup row 2: kfb,k1,kfb
Repeat row: kfb, k to last stitch, kfb
Work your repeat row until the long edge of your shawl is as long as you want it to be. My finished sample shawl is approx 150cm along this long edge.
To Finish: Cast of LOOSELY using a knitted cast off.
